Our Story

About Jain Kosh

Making ancient wisdom accessible, practical, and relevant for how we actually live today.

Our Mission

Making ancient wisdom accessible for modern living.

Jain Kosh exists to bridge the gap between profound philosophical teachings that are thousands of years old and the real challenges people face today -- from career stress and relationship struggles to questions of purpose, identity, and ethical living. We believe this wisdom belongs to everyone, not just scholars.

A Way of Life, Not a Religion

We approach Jainism as a practical philosophy for living well -- a set of principles that help you think more clearly, act more compassionately, and find genuine peace in a noisy world. You do not need to be Jain, religious, or spiritual to benefit from these ideas.

The six core principles we focus on -- Non-Violence, Many Perspectives, Non-Attachment, Truthfulness, Non-Stealing, and Self-Mastery -- are universal tools for navigating modern life. They are as relevant to a startup founder in San Francisco as they are to a student in Mumbai or a parent in London.

We present these ideas without dogma, without ritual requirements, and without judgment. Take what resonates. Leave what does not. The wisdom speaks for itself.

Vikas Ji Chhabra & JainKosh

Vikas Ji Chhabra is the driving force behind JainKosh.org -- one of the most comprehensive platforms for Jain philosophical education available today. His mission is simple but ambitious: democratize access to teachings that were historically confined to scholarly circles and make them available to anyone with curiosity.

Through daily live Zoom classes (Monday through Saturday, 8-9 PM IST), Vikas walks students through foundational texts like Moksha Marg Prakashak and Sarvarth Siddhi, breaking down complex philosophical concepts into understandable, applicable insights. His classes are open to everyone -- from lifelong practitioners to people who have never heard of Jainism.

The JainKosh platform hosts over 4,500 digital texts, downloadable study materials, a Jain encyclopedic dictionary, and a growing library of video content. The companion site DigJainWiki.org serves as a comprehensive reference for Jain terminology and concepts.

About This Project

This platform is an experiment in using modern technology to make ancient wisdom more accessible. We combine curated video content, interactive principle exploration, AI-powered philosophical guidance, and daily practice tools into a single, beautiful experience.

Our AI teaching assistant is modeled after Vikas Chhabra ji's teaching style -- grounded in authentic Digambar Jain shastras, referencing original scriptures, and explaining concepts systematically. It is not a replacement for deep study with a teacher, but a helpful starting point for understanding Jain siddhant and connecting ancient wisdom to daily life.

Everything here is free, open, and built with care. We believe the best ideas should be the most accessible ones.
